BED AND BREAKFAST IN SOUTH WEST FRANCE

BED AND BREAKFAST IN SOUTH WEST FRANCE

Why not have a holiday at our lovely house, dating from the mid 19th century, near Cognac and the Charente valley.

This is the ideal location for a relaxing break, near the town of Cognac on the Charente river and the Grand Champagne Cognac vineyards.

For people with mobility scooters there are many miles of former railway lines which are tarmaced to suit cyclists. These paths give easy access to the lovely countryside that perhaps would not be possible on rough pathways.

There are two comfortable ensuite bedrooms, each with its own table and comfortable chairs. King size, twin or superking-size beds are available. A cot is available on request.

Although the bedrooms are upstairs, the staircase is not difficult. I have MS and though I use a wheelchair on the ground floor some of the time I am able to climb the stairs. The ground floor is completely flat and the use of a walker presents no problem.

There is a large garden with no steps set to lawn with seating areas, tables, parasols and a barbecue.

The house is set in a small peaceful hamlet on the outskirts of the attractive village of Baignes St Radegonde. The ancient town of Barbezieux is within 10 minutes drive. We are also within an easy drive of the fortified towns of Angouleme, Jarnac and Bordeaux, St Emilion, La Rochelle, the Atlantic coast and the Dordogne.

We provide light lunches or evening meals by arrangement.

For more details and for the numerous places to visit see our website http://www.lavieilledistillerie.com

Remember you qualify for 10% off our competitive prices.

We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
Ffion Barn means Foxglove Barn - so called because the lane to the cottage is a mass of pink foxgloves in the summer. The cottage has been restored very thoughtfully to a very comfortable and welcoming place to stay with a mixture of antique and new furniture and décor. The barn is at the end of a lane on a working farm specialising is sheep and Welsh Cobs and Mountain ponies - some of which graze on the open common land nearby. The farm boasts its own Cwm Camlais Castle, very little now remains but enough to show a rocky motte supported by a round tower dating from approximately 1240. This is a perfect location for walks straight from the door out onto the hills with a footpath passing the cottage. It is also the closest property to the Sarn Helen Cycle Route. There is a wealth of Red Kites, Lap Wings, Buzzards and other rare birds. The owners are very helpful and can advise visitors on good local walks and activities. The Mountain Centre where you can find information on The National Park and spend a pleasant time having an excellent meal or just a warming drink and admire the phenomenal panoramic views is just a walk away. There is also camping available in the fields. Friday to Friday bookings.
